Getting there - IASCL 2017

The main gateway to Lyon for international travelers is Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport. Lyon is connected to Paris (Paris Gare de Lyon) by a 2 hour trip with the TGV (Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache railway stations)

Directions from railway stations


From Lyon-Perrache railway station (nearest railway station)

     It will take about 10 minutes.

  • Follow the signs to the T1 tramway station
  • Take the T1 tramway going to "IUT Feyssine" and get off at the first stop: "Quai Claude Bernard"
  • You then just have to walk up the road until number 18. Follow the signs to meet the welcome desk.

From Lyon-Part-Dieu railway station

     It will take about half an hour.

  • Follow the signs to the T1 tramway station
  • Take the T1 tramway going to "Perrache - Montrochet" and get off at the 8th stop: "Quai Claude Bernard"
  • You then just have to walk up the road until number 18. Follow the signs to meet the welcome desk.

From Lyon Saint-Exupéry International Airport

  • RhoneExpress shuttles link the Airport and the Part-Dieu Station. They run every 30 minutes from 5 A.M. to 6 A.M. and from 9 P.M. to midnight (11:30 P.M from Part-Dieu) and every 15 min from 6 A.M. to 9 P.M. The price is 14.70 euros (25.90 euros round trip). You can buy your tickets online. The travel takes about 30 minutes.

To park in the neighbourhood of the conference is not easy and there are very few free parking lots.



Public transport in Lyon

You can consult maps and timetables on http://www.tcl.fr/en. A basic ticket costs 1.8 euros, it is valid for one trip, on the TCL network, during one hour after it is first stamped. Changes are allowed with the same ticket. Other types of tickets are available depending upon what you plan to do (http://www.tcl.fr/en/Fares/Fares). For example, the ticket liberté soirée costs 3 euros allows for all your trips from 7PM till the end of service.

Taxis

There are many taxi companies in Lyon. Prices are established by a prefectoral bylaw (about 10 euros for up to 3 people to get from the Part-Dieu railway station to conference location ; the price depends on the distance, the time of the day, and the number of passengers, etc. You can estimate the cost of your taxi here)

Bike

a bike rental service runs over the city of Lyon : Velov' (http://www.velov.grandlyon.com/). Stations can be found within 300m of many points in the city. The bicycles can be returned to any other station. Rentals can last from less than 30 minutes up to 24 hours. In each station, a vending machine (credit card only) allows to get subscription tickets.
Short run subscription tickets cost 1.5 € for a period of 24 hours or 5 € for 7 days.
Then, the rates below apply:

  • first 30 minutes for free
  • from 30 minutes up to 1 hour, 1 euro
  • 2 euros each following half hour
So, you always need to park a Velov at a station, and you better change Velov' every half hour.
