  • functional-typological approach (Comrie, Creissels, DeLancey, Givón, Lazard, Mithun, etc.), Basic Linguistic Theory (R.M.W. Dixon)
  • data collection in the field : recording, transcription and translation of narratives and conversations, controlled elicitation, participant observation

  • argument-encoding systems, alignment (ergative, split, hierarchical/inverse, etc.), ditransitivity (double-object constructions)
  • voice / valency-changing constructions (sociative causative, passive)
  • motion event ("associated motion")
